New HRDA-Subsidised Course: Ensuring Business Compliance with the European Accessibility Act

By gmilis , 12 June 2026

The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is now in force — and for many Cyprus businesses, the question is no longer whether to act, but how quickly. EduSynergy, in collaboration with CYENS, is pleased to announce the next run of our HRDA-subsidised seminar: Ensuring Business Compliance with the EU Accessibility Act: Best Practices for Creating Accessible Documents.

What the EAA Requires

Since 28 June 2025, all new products and services placed on the EU market must meet the accessibility requirements set out in the European Accessibility Act. This covers websites, mobile applications, digital documents, e-commerce platforms, and a wide range of consumer-facing digital services. Organisations with existing products and services have until 28 June 2030 to comply — but those that have updated or launched new offerings since June 2025 are already within scope.

The standard most commonly used to demonstrate EAA compliance is EN 301 549, which incorporates the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. For many businesses, the most immediate practical implications fall on their digital documents: reports, forms, presentations, PDFs, and website content.

Who This Course Is For

This seminar is designed for professionals across all sectors who are involved in creating, reviewing, or publishing digital content — including project managers, marketing and communications professionals, software developers, HR personnel, administrative staff, and team leaders. No prior experience with accessibility is required.

What You Will Learn

Across two interactive sessions, participants will:

  • Understand the EAA's legal requirements and the specific obligations that apply to Cyprus businesses
  • Learn how people with disabilities use assistive technology — screen readers, magnification tools, text-to-speech, and keyboard navigation — to access digital content
  • Apply practical techniques for creating accessible Word documents, presentations, and PDFs, including correct heading structure, alternative text, colour contrast, and accessible export settings
  • Use accessibility evaluation tools and checklists to verify that documents meet compliance standards before publication or submission
